"Love Is All You Need"
We are baaaaack! What a week! We had a great time and also a couple hard times of course! Let's get into it.
Highlights
Went to Cauayan on Tuesday with the STL's on Tuesday for our Mission Leadership Council on Wednesday!
We set a mission baptismal goal for 2025 of 1068! I was tempted to doubt our abilities to achieve such a high number, but I was quickly reminded to root out all faithlessness. It isn't just anyones work we're doing here, it's God's. We're gathering His children! All things are possible with Him.
I had exchanges with Elder Roberts on Friday! Learned a lot from him. He's such a positive Elder and is always looking to learn something from every situation, I love that about him. We connected on a different level for sure.
I got to experience what could be my last baptismal service here in beloved Caliguian.
I had a very good Sunday. The sacrament was great. I love being able to pray in the special time. I am trying to focus more on gratitude prayers instead of "puro hingi", which in english is comparable to saying "only asking/requesting".
Elder Pilar and I did some exploring in our area!
Lowlights
When we were exploring one of our farther areas, it started to get dark, so we decided fo head back. As we were coming down the during road, I saw a big black blur coming at us a little ways ahead. It was darkish so we weren't sure what it was. Then we knew. It was a Carabao RUNNING RIGHT AT US!!??! When I say I was scared.... we pulled off the path as much as we could but keep in mind we are in the middle of nowhere with rice fields on both sides of this 8 foot wide dirt path. I pulled my bike behind a small tree and just prayed that this Carabao wouldn't take us out. My comp was ready to jump into the palayan (rice field). I kid you not when I say it looked like it was going to swerve into us. Thankfully it only turned its head and looked at us while it ran by. I think the scariest part was the fact that I've never seen one of these things run so fast. Elder Pilar and I are safe though. Heavenly Father was definitely watching out for us.
Spiritual Thought
2nd Nephi 12:3
3 .....for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
We are living in the times that were prophesied by Isaiah! How exciting! We need not fear for the Lord is on our side. The covenant path is the surest way to stay safe in these chaotic times. This is a time of preparation. Especially for youth! If any of ya'll preparing for your mission want some advice or tips to prepare, I would be more than happy to send you and email! My mission truly has changed me in ways that I never would've dreamed.
Thanks for reading everyone!! Until next week!
Peace
Elder Baker
