Shout Out To All Of The Moms!

Alright ya'll, first and foremost, go hug your Mom and tell her you love her. Our moms are the best for real. They do so many things for us that we don't even realize. Let her know how much she means to you!!

Okay, let's get into the week! It was long but really good. Let's just say we got the boot almost everyday. It's all good though! No effort is wasted in the work in the gathering of Israel!!

Tuesday was a really good day. We were able to teach 4 lessons and found a new family to teach!! Such a blessing. Teaching a family is a privilege indeed. We are going back to them this Tuesday and we're super excited! The crazy thing is, we walked by the dad on the way to a little neighborhood and ended up not finding anyone there. On the way back to the main road, we passed him again and my companion said " Elder. We should go talk to him. " We ended up having an amazing lesson with him and his kids! Always listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Trust that the good thoughts you have are from God!!

Wednesday we got punted a lot. It wasn't necessarily bad though! We walked a looooot = lots of bonding.  Let me just give a little salamat sa kasama ko (thank you to my companion). Elder Montesclaros is a machine. This kid just loves the work. I love it. We both find tons of joy in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thursday was awesome!! Again got punted a few times, but those rejections led to some awesome lessons with some new people! We unfortunately couldn't teach our IBDs cause they were so busy. We reset our appointment with them for Saturday.

Friday was unexpectedly very good. So first things first, we hitched hiked over a mountain to one of our areas. Now, you might be saying "pft yeah sure. It was probably just a big hill.". Naw. It was a really big hill. Jokes aside, it really was a mountain. We were so blessed to get a ride. We actually knew the people who picked us up too! She was the sister of a member in our Branch! Kinda cool story. Once we got to our area, we had a really good lesson with Tatay Denver. He loves god and wants to do what's right. We totally weren't going to extend baptism to him but hey, the Spirit knows who's ready. We extended and he said yes!! So cool.

Saturday is the day we invite people to church. So that means, lots of walking. Lot's of no one being home. Lots of companionship bonding.  We were able to get back to our IBDs though! We had a super nice first 15 minutes. We really just talked about life. How they were doing and what they were going through. By the time we got into the lesson, they just kind of opened up. I asked them why they wanted to get baptised and Sister Ashley said " well, I want to see what your church has that mine doesn't. ". This might sound silly, but in the Philippines some churches don't let you in if you're not already baptized in their church. So this was a legitimate concern for her! Thankfully we asked cause that is definitely not the foundation we want her to build her faith on. We told her she can just come to church with us tomorrow and see how she feels about it!! She said she'd try!!

............ Sunday......... The day we've been waiting for. Will Sister Ashley show up? OF COURSE!!! Thats riiiiight. She came to church! The only bummer is that Unfortunately she showed up at the end of sacrament and she missed my masterpiece of a talk hahaha just kidding. The speaker after me was really good so that was awesome. She also brought her kid!! She's a bit of a younger mother so we weren't sure if she'd be comfortable bringing him. We were pleasantly surprised! After church we were talking to her and she said she was overwhelmed by how welcome she felt in relief society with her baby!! Shout out to the Aritao relief society. Keep working your magic. We were so grateful for her good first experience with the Branch. We're so excited to help her come closer to Jesus Christ!!

Scripture Of The Week

3 Nephi 13:11

11 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

I love this so much. I know that as we freely forgive our fellow men, we can more fully access the healing power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. As we let go of padt grudges and things others have done, we can start a new chapter of our lives. I promise you all that as you go forward, free of the burden of grudge holding, you will strengthen your relationship with your Savior.

Alright! That's the end!! Sorry that one was so long! It was a very good week though. Don't forget to read your scriptures everyday! Also thank you for the emails. You know who you are!! Love ya'll so so much. Until next week

Peace

Elder Baker
