How Do You Hear Him?
Hey everyone!! Another week down! This one flew by! We had some awesome moments this week. I hope you all had a great week! If any of you guys need any prayers, shoot me an email. I would love to pray for you. Alright lets get into this past week!
Tuesday. In the morning we went "House Hunting". We didn't really know how to go about finding a new apartment. And it didn't help that some people wouldn't even hear us out cause we're missionaries. Cmon now. You might ask why were moving apartment. Well even if you weren't asking that, I'm going to tell you anyways. First me set the stage. Have you guys seen the movie Ratatouille? It truly is a classic. Do you guys remember that scene when the whole roof collapses because of all the rats living there? This is our fear at the moment. During our personal studies, we frequently hear what one might call an Irish jig. Pretty crazy stuff. Unfortunately we weren't able tk find an apartment. The rest of the day went well though. We had a couple lessons in the afternoon. Over all great day.
Wednesday was loooong. We got punted a lot but we still managed to teach 3 lessons throughout the day. So it twas a success. It was raining really hard too. This means we were allowed to wear crocs!! It was kind fun haha. We had a super great lesson to end off the day. We were in this little room with a tin roof teaching our boy Jaerenz. All of a sudden, it was as if someone flipped a switch. The rain was sl strong, we couldn't hear each other unless we shouted. My companion was teaching and all of a sudden handed it over to me mid teaching. As I was teaching, I wasn't sure if Jaerenz was understanding me. But then as I was teaching about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, he then said "then Jesus was crucified.". Immediately we became more confident in our teaching and the spirit filled the room!
Thursday we had our District Council Meeting. I cooked some chicken for lunch. It was a lot of chicken. Like 1 kilo of chicken. Lets just say me and my comp were pretty hungry haha. On the bumpy jeepny ride over to Bambang my stomach wasn't feeling the best. I'm glad we made it without a spill. Later we went and taught our IBDs! They committed to live the Word of Wisdom. We're so excited we're able to come along this journey with them.
Friday we had exchanges. It was a great day. We had lots of findings and lessons. I also figured out that there is a rebel group of Filipinos who hate the government in the province I'm serving in. Uh-huh. Its called the NPA. National Peoples Army. And apparently there's alot of em. We're alright though. I've heard they're cool with the missionaries.
Saturday we just tried to invite alot of people! Lots and lots of walking wow. That about it hahaha.
Sunday was legittt! Of course the highlight of the day was sacrament meeting. It was just a super spirit filled meeting. Also...... One of our friends came!! His name is Tatay Gregorio. He is a gem. He sells barbecue stuff on the side of the road in front of his house. We walk by him twice a week and always have a great little chat with him. We hadn't talked with him about the gospel yet. But last week, the Lord kind of just handed us a golden opportunity. We were walking to the little tricy stop at the bottom of the hill, my companion and I decided to just keep walking cause it is kind of expensive there. We ended up passing by Tatay Gregorio! We had an awesome talk with him and he gave us a ride to our area! He eventually told us he was interested in our message!! And then he came to church!! So sick.
Scripture of the Week
Mosiah 18:25
25 And there was one day in every week that was set apart that they should gather themselves together to teach the people, and to worship the Lord their God, and also, as often as it was in their power, to assemble themselves together.
I love this verse so much. For those of you studying the Come Follow Me, this was one of the stand outs for me. It doesn't say "once a week we gave to hours to God and then we went shopping the rest of the day". We could replace shopping just about one hundred other words which are still unsuitable for the sabbath day. We know, the Sabbath is a day of rest. As Elder Holland says, we enter into "The Lords rest". There is a difference between regular rest and the kind of spiritual and physical renewal we receive by turning our minds and hearts to God for one whole day. I did not realize or appreciate this precious truth before my mission. But I do now. And I thank my Heavenly Father for the gift of His holy day. I invite all of you to raise the bar. And if it's already there, keep it there. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have a special understanding of this special day of the week.
I love you all so much. Keep bringing the light of Christ to those who need it!! Pics in another email!
Peace
