Kailangan Ko Mag Ilicano Din?!?

Yooooo how's everyone doing!? This past week was kind of mentally draining, and a learning experience for sure but hard does not mean bad!!

Tuesday was goooood! I had a super awesome personal study about Ammon and King Lamoni. Even though I've read that story so many times before, I felt the spirit testifying to me that this really did happen. Ammons example to me of being bold when proclaiming the truth hit me hard. It made me think of Elder Holland when he said " put forth every effort to teach by power and authority....
We seldom teach with either power or authority! " He said this in an MTC devotional called "Missions Are Forever"
It's so gooood! To all of you who are on missions, preparing for your mission, or even thinking about going on a mission, email me and I'll send it to you!

Wednesday was a pretty low key day. We had 3 or 4 lessons which went well but I felt like my Tagalog was struggliiiing. While I was doing my language study later I was feeling better but still annoyed cause like, I just want to tell these wonderful people everything I knowwww! Hahaha.

Thursday was similar to Wednesday. We had 4 or 5 lessons and I still felt annoyed that I couldn't answer our investigators questions as well as I wanted to. At the end of the day I was thinking about the families that we taught that day and all of there questions. Suddenly I realized that just a week ago I couldn't understand half of what these people were saying and now, I understood them enough to answer their question! As broken as my tagalog answer probably sounded I still was bale to respond! Truly a tender mercy of lord.

Friday was more teaching and a super cool experience with finding. We were walking to an appointment and my comp stopped and looked down a street we'd never walked down said we should knock some doors. We prayed and asked for guidance. We walked all the to the end of the street to a gated house. We looked at each other and felt like this was the house. We said " Tao Po! " and an older Filipino guy out speaking fluent English! He invited us in and showed us his garden and yard and we talked for a little bit and gave him a pamphlet. Before we even invited him to read it he said " I will read this " it sounds funny but the way he said it made me feel like he was being genuine! I guess we'll seeee!

Saturday is more just inviting people to church which is really good until Sunday morning and you realize everyone who said yes isn't coming.
It's all good though cause on sunday we had one of our friends with a baptismal date come to church again which is so awesome for her since she lives so far away and has to pay both ways to get to church! Such an amazing act of faith!!

    Scripture of the week

Alma 29:10

10 And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea, even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.

I testify that the joy Alma talks about is real. Seeing people make big and small changes in their lives to come closer to their Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ has filled me with a similar feeling. It's amazing to see the light in their eyes when the Gospel touches their hearts! We too can feel this joy as we center our lives on the teachings and love of Jesus Christ. We will start turning outward to others instead of inwards to ourselves.

Love all of you guys! Pictures in another email. Also shout out to Kamryn getting her mission call to Chile! So sick!

Peace

Elder Baker

I totally forgot to explain the title of my email. I'm learning another language! It's called ilicano. It has the same sentence structure as tagalog just different words. And I still am not good at tagalog so we'll see how it goes.
