Week One In The Books!

Yoooo what's up everyone?! I love it here in the Philippines and I love the people! But i'm not gonna lie this week has been pretty hard. Along with most new missionaries who are learning a language in the mission field, I felt like I wanted to learn the language right now. Which is not realistic for my first week or first month or for probably a long time here. I just see the people that we are teaching and I want to tell them everything I know! For the first few days I tried to bare my testimony in tagalog and it wasn't going very well. It's kinda hard to teach with the spirit and think of all of the grammar at the same time hahaha. When Thursday personal study came I was exhausted, I felt like I wasn't learning anything and I couldn't teach with the spirit. I decided to just pray, and that's exactly what I needed. I felt like I needed to open my grammar book and start reading from the beginning. I opened it up and on the second page there was a quote from preach my gospel " work hard and after all you can do, pray for the Gift of Tongues." That hit me pretty hard. I realized I don't need to do this alone. I know if I give everything I do everything I can and if I involve my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, they will make more of me than I can of myself. I realized that I don't need to worry about speaking the language every second of every day.

That experience turned my week around. I started bearing my testimony in English and adding all of the words that I did know in tagalog! It turns out most people here understand alot of English here!

Others than getting over the language problem the week was awesome.  We went door to door containing every day and it's the funniest thing to do. In the Philippines you don't actually knock on the door, you stand outside and yell " TAO PO!". We yell like 5 or 6 times and if they don't come out, they either aren't home or they don't want to be taught by the missionaries.

And that was my week! It was very hard but it was so strengthening at the same time. It taught me to be patient and to involve the Lord in everything I do.

Aight that's all. I'm going to send a separate email for all of the pictures!

Peace!
